Turks and Caicos Jet Charter can look for an aircraft that allows smoking on your flight to or from the islands, and we handle the opposite request just as carefully for passengers who are sensitive to smoke.
Few charter aircraft allow smoking
Most aircraft flown for charter today are non-smoking. The operator and the aircraft owner set the policy, and neither we nor the crew can change it for a single trip. Some operators allow smoking on particular aircraft, and the rules can differ between cigarettes, cigars and pipes. Tell us exactly what you plan to smoke, and we will check it against each operator’s policy.
Ask before we quote
Please let us know before we start quoting, so that we search only among aircraft that allow it. If the request comes up after the trip is booked, we may have to start the search again. Over the Christmas holidays or a spring break week, when aircraft flying to Providenciales are booked well ahead, that can mean losing the aircraft you wanted. A smoking-permitted aircraft is also hard to find at short notice, so the earlier you ask, the better your chances.
Smoke-free cabins and allergies
A non-smoking cabin is the default, and you do not need to request it. If someone in your party has an allergy to tobacco or nicotine, or is bothered by a lingering smell of smoke, mention it, and your advisor will take it into account when comparing aircraft for your trip.
Once you land in Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos law applies on the ground. Any tobacco you bring with you goes through customs on arrival along with the rest of your bags. Villas and resorts set their own smoking policies as well, so check with yours before you arrive. For other requests about the cabin, see our page on in-flight catering.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Turks and Caicos-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Every flight into Turks and Caicos from the United States or Canada is an international trip, so you land first at an airport that can clear you through customs: Providenciales, Grand Turk or South Caicos. Almost every private flight lands at Providenciales, officially Howard Hamilton International Airport, where private aviation terminals clear you in away from the main airline hall, and a late arrival there can be arranged in advance. North Caicos, Salt Cay and Pine Cay only take flights from within the territory, Parrot Cay has no airstrip, and Ambergris Cay’s private airport is open by prior permission. The islands are on the same time as New York all year, and hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th, with September usually the most active month.
